2D1N Cat Ba & Lan Ha Bay Combo
The island and the bay in one short trip. Cruise and kayak on day one, forest or village on day two, one night on the water or in a village.
At a glance
Two days is the right length if Cat Ba is one stop on a longer trip through Vietnam. Day one is the bay: a boat, kayaks and a swim. You sleep on the boat or in a homestay in Viet Hai, your choice, same price. Day two you choose again: a forest walk in the national park, or an easy bike ride through the valley.
Day 1 08:00 to Day 2 15:00
Highlights
- Cruise, kayak and swim in Lan Ha Bay
- Sunset and sunrise on the water or in a silent valley
- Your choice of national park walk or village bike ride
- All meals in the itinerary included
- Hanoi pickup available
The route

Why we chose this trip
Most two-day trips pick one night option for you. This one lets you decide on the evening of day one, once you have seen the bay and know how tired you are. The group stays at ten, the homestay families are people we know by name, and the boat night is quiet because the day boats have gone home. It is the easiest good version of Cat Ba we know.
The day, as it really runs
On the road to the island
Pickup in Hanoi Old Quarter, or in Cat Ba Town if you're already here. Bus and ferry to the island.
Out into the bay
Board the boat at Beo pier. Kayak through lagoons, stop for a swim, watch the light change over the karsts.
Boat night or homestay
Check in on the boat or in a Viet Hai homestay. Dinner, a quiet evening, and very little phone signal.
Forest or valley
Walk into Cat Ba National Park with a guide, or cycle the flat valley road to Viet Hai village. Decide the night before.
Lunch and a slow afternoon
Lunch, then free time or the beach before the trip home.
Back to Hanoi or town
Transfer back to Hanoi, or drop-off at your hotel in Cat Ba Town.
Day two is a choice, not a fixed route. Tell us on the first evening and we'll arrange the rest.

Is this day right for you?
The honest version.
A good fit if
- Cat Ba is one stop on a longer trip and you have two days to give it.
- You want both the water and the island without planning the pieces.
- You like deciding the second day once you are there.
Tell us early if
- You want a private boat or a fixed cabin. Look at the 3D2N instead.
- You are coming from Hanoi on a tight schedule. We time the bus around the boat.
- Anyone in your group has trouble with stairs or ladders on boats.
