Dora Cruise

Tuan Chau to Lan Ha Bay

Five-star class, steel hull, wooden interiors

A night on Dora Cruise

Dora sails the route we like best for a first cruise: it boards at Tuan Chau, which is easy to reach from Hanoi, then crosses into Lan Ha Bay for the afternoon and the night. You kayak near a small beach, eat on deck at sunset and wake up surrounded by limestone instead of other ships. The second morning visits Viet Hai, the village our own cycling day goes to, so you see a real part of Cat Ba before you leave.

Our honest view

We like Dora for couples and families who want comfort without a huge ship. Every cabin we have seen listed has a balcony, and the family suites connect two cabins with a lockable door. Be aware that the published cabin count differs between pages, and the ship shares its management with Tulip Cruise. We confirm your exact cabin, deck and price in writing before you pay.

Right for you if

  • You want one comfortable night on the water and a balcony of your own.
  • You are travelling as a family of three to six and want connecting cabins.
  • You plan to continue to Cat Ba afterwards rather than ride straight back to Hanoi.

Tell us early if

  • You want a very small boat with only a handful of cabins. Dora is a full size cruise ship.
  • You are travelling between July and September. Storms can close the bay, so keep a spare day.
  • You need a step free cabin or have mobility needs. We check the deck and stairs with the ship first.

Questions about Dora Cruise

Where does Dora Cruise start?

At Tuan Chau port in Ha Long. You check in at the waiting lounge around midday and a tender takes you out to the ship. We can arrange the shuttle from Hanoi or a car from Cat Ba.

Does the ship really go to Lan Ha Bay?

Yes. The published route crosses from the Ha Long side into Lan Ha Bay in the afternoon, stops near Ba Trai Dao beach for kayaking and stays in Lan Ha overnight. Weather can change the route on the day.

Is it good for children?

It is one of the easier ships for families: connecting family suites, an indoor play area and mini golf on deck. Life jackets are worn for kayaking. Tell us the ages of the children so we can pick the right cabin.

Can we finish the cruise on Cat Ba?

Yes. The ship returns to Tuan Chau around noon on the last day. From there the car ferry crosses to Cat Ba, and we can meet you with our transfer so you arrive at the island in the early afternoon.

How much does it cost?

Prices change with the season, the cabin and how full the ship is, so we quote today's real price for your date. Message us with your dates and number of guests and we reply with the cabins still free.
