Ambassador Cruise I is one of the bigger overnight ships in Ha Long Bay: 45 cabins, each with a balcony or terrace, two sundecks, a piano lounge, a spa and an outdoor jacuzzi. It boards at the international cruise port in Bai Chay, not at Tuan Chau, and stays with the famous Ha Long sights. You see Luon Cave by boat, walk through Sung Sot Cave, eat dinner on deck to a live band and climb Ti Top Island on the second morning.

Our honest view
We suggest Ambassador to guests who want polished, hotel style service, a lively evening with music, and the famous Ha Long caves in one short trip. Know three things first. It leaves from Bai Chay, so your driver needs the right port. The kayak at Luon Cave costs extra and the website is unclear about the bamboo boat. Dinner asks for smart clothes, although the FAQ says there is no dress code. We confirm all of this in writing.
Right for you if
- You want a big, well run ship with a spa, a jacuzzi and a band at dinner.
- It is your first time in Ha Long Bay and you want the famous caves and Ti Top Island.
- You enjoy dressing up a little for dinner and a social evening with music.
Tell us early if
- You want to kayak at Luon Cave. It costs extra, so we ask the ship for the price before you go.
- You booked a car to Tuan Chau. This ship boards at the cruise port in Bai Chay, a different pier.
- You are travelling between July and September. Storms can close the bay, so keep a spare day.

Questions about Ambassador Cruise
Where does Ambassador Cruise start?
At Halong International Cruise Port in Bai Chay, Ha Long City. Check in opens at 11:00 in the ship's lounge on the first floor of the terminal. It is not Tuan Chau, so make sure your driver has the right address.
Is the boat ride at Luon Cave included?
The ship's website gives two answers. The itinerary page marks both the kayak and the bamboo boat as extra, while the offer page lists the bamboo boat as included and only the kayak as extra. We ask the ship for your date and confirm it in writing before you pay.
Is there a dress code?
The itinerary asks for smart casual or smarter at the sundeck dinner, but the ship's own FAQ says there is no dress code. Pack one neat outfit for the evening and shoes with grip for the caves.
Can we go on to Cat Ba after the cruise?
Yes. Our Ha Long to Cat Ba transfer starts in Ha Long City, so we meet you at the Bai Chay port when the ship lands around 10:15 and take you to the Tuan Chau car ferry for the crossing to Cat Ba. We plan the timing with you when you book.
How much does it cost?
On the ship's own booking page the lowest rate we found was 335 USD per cabin for two guests, for a Deluxe cabin on an early booking rate with stricter cancellation terms. Most dates show the Premium cabin from 353 to 380 USD. Send us your dates and we check the live price.
